The 2008 Europa prizewinner is Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe, who retired in November The Prehistoric Society.
2007 after 35 years as Professor of European Archaeology at the University of Oxford.

Starting in 2008, the annual Europa Lecture, given by the prizewinner, will form the centrepiece of a day-conference on a related theme.This, the first of our new annual Europa day-conferences will draw together archaeologists, linguists, and geneticists, featuring two speakers from each discipline with rather different views, and culminating in Professor  Cunliffe’s own lecture, entitled A Race Apart? Insularity and Connectivity.
